After following the ACOM Needle Stick policy, follow the core site policy below:
- Student will see out charge nurse or associate in charge of the particular area in which the injury/exposure occurred to obtain the VIA-1 form. If there is a witness to the incident, it would be ideal for the student to ask the witness to assist in completing the VIA-1 form.
- Student will not be charged for initial lab work (HIV, Hep B, Hep C) for the student or patient source.
- A St. Vincent's Work Fit employee will notify the student of the lab results.
- If the student's or source patient's labs are positive, the student will be financially responsible for follow up.
