After following the ACOM Needle Stick policy, follow the core site policy below:
- Student will contact Employee Health (256-973-2116) during business hours. Contact the House Supervisor after hours.
- Student is treated the same as employees with one exception. If student has an exposure from a patient positive for HIV, student will obtain a prescription for the PEP (post exposure prophylaxis) from the treating provider at Decatur Morgan. Student will be responsible for prescription expenses.
- Post exposure follow up is included at no charge to the student following a reported needle stick injury or exposure.
