The ACOM Institutional Review Board (IRB) is charged with protecting the rights and welfare of the human subjects involved in research studies and strives to ensure that all scientific, ethical, and regulatory guidelines are met. As the IRB at the University of Maryland Baltimore states,
"The No. 1 priority of an IRB is to protect human subjects from physical or psychological harm."
The ACOM IRB reviews all human subjects research projects conducted by ACOM faculty, staff, and students.
Watch this short video for a good overview on IRBs and how IRBs protect human research participants.
