Dr. Alston

You may want to practice the presentation.  This is a great way to find issues before the presentation.  I just recorded a presentation for an upcoming IS; see below. You can also find redundancies that can be streamlined/eliminated or issues with slides.  I found this to be very helpful.

Consider other options for conveying the material.  Zoom and PowerPoint allow recordings of presentations that can be used in an asynchronous fashion.   This could be followed by a chat or email questions.  MP4 files from either of these platforms can be saved in SEAMED.

  • For Zoom, just start a new meeting,  hit share screen/select media, and press record to computer/cloud (may be on the menu).  When meeting is ended, the presentation will be converted to MP4.
  • For PowerPoint, record slide show works as you give the presentation.  Save.  I recommend exporting the PowerPoint file with narration to a MP4 file with consideration of using a lower quality setting (e.g. internet quality) to reduce file slide.  Note that exporting to MP4 can take a long time in PowerPoint.
