Mr. Ronnie Majors, Security Supervisor, joined the ACOM family in April 2013. He brings with him 12 years of military service and 8 years of security experience. Mr. Majors was recently certified as a taser instructor, bringing a new level of training and skills to the ACOM campus.
When not at ACOM, Mr. Majors enjoys spoiling his 3 grandkids (with 1 more on the way) and visiting Gatlinburg, TN. He is originally from Auburn, AL.
DISTRACTED DRIVER AWARENESS
April is National Distracted Driver Awareness month. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in 2019,
distracted driving killed 3,142 people.
Here are a few tips to help you drive responsibly:
Don't be afraid to to remind your friends and family that if they are in the driver's seat that is the only thing they are responsible for doing. You can always tell them to stop texting and focus on the road.
THE ACOM TRAIL: A BIODIVERSITY ESCAPE
The ACOM Trail is just over 3 miles of dog-friendly natural pathways open to walkers, runners, and mountain bikers. Just beyond the trailhead is a campground and fire pit where students can relax.
Alabama ranks 5th in the nation for being the most biodiverse state overall and is ranked 1st in biodiversity east of the Mississippi. From the vermillion darter only found in Jefferson County to beautiful carnivorous plant bogs, Alabama is truly a natural wonder.
Maps of the ACOM Trail are available at the security desk.
