Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)

Part of the ERAS application process, the Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE) is how a school provides an objective assessment of a student's performance.  The MSPE contains information about your performance during your first 3 years of medical school.  ACOM composes and uploads the MSPE to ERAS and it is available to all the residency programs to which you apply.

MSPE Components

  • Identifying Information
    • Student's name and year at ACOM
      • "John Doe is a fourth-year student at the Alabama College of Osteopathic Medicine (ACOM) in Dothan, Alabama."
  • Noteworthy Characteristics
    • Significant leadership experiences and accomplishments during your time at ACOM
    • No personal information is included in this section
  • Academic Progress
    • GPA for OMS I and II
    • Core site
    • List of core clerkships with grade and preceptor comments for each
    • List of elective clerkships with grade and preceptor comments
    • List of selective clerkships with grade and preceptor comments
  • Comparative Graphs
    • Overall comparative performance
      • Quartile and class rank for OMS I, II, and III
    • Class and student results for OMS I
      • Student's grade for each course and class average for each course
    • Class and student results for OMS II
      • Student's grade for each course and class average for each course
    • Class and student results for OMS III
      • Student's grade for each course and class average for each course
    • Portfolio for OMS III
      • Student's self-reported portfolio of clinical conditions encountered and procedures performed in OMS III
